There’s no such thing as unrealistic goals, there are only unrealistic time frames. Most people don’t set goals at all and only about 3% of people set goals effectively. There’s an opposite for everything so if your goal setting isn’t effective, it is defective.

1. Make Your Goals Specific, Very Specific – When you go to a restaurant and your waiter asks you what are you having, do you reply with a general statement, “I’m having a seafood dinner,” or “I’m having salad,” or “I’m having a low cal meal,” or “I’m having all 6 basic food groups” or worst “Just give me whatever.” Then you’re pissed off because your waiter gave you the best steak in the house. Why are you upset? Because you’re a vegetarian! This is how most people set or unset goals. Most people know exactly what they really want and because of low self esteem and conditioning, they don’t get intentional and set clear, specific goals. Because of this, many people end up with “whatever” because “whatever” is what they ordered. Getting whatever happens on a deep subconscious level and getting whatever continues because it’s a self-fulfilling prophecy.
The SECRET – USE YOUR IMAGINATION! Use your right brain to set your goal. Your DREAMS are the best inspiration for setting goals you actually really want. When you use your imagination with feeling and emotion, you’ll be inspired to set goals that stretch you out of your comfort zone. Most people set goals they know they can easily get and there’s no fun, excitement, or desire to go after easy. Think about how a man chases an elusive woman. If she was easy, he wouldn’t feel inspired to chase. Your goals are the same way. The only goals you’ll make an effort to get are those that stretch you out of your comfort zone and inspire you to be higher. If you really want MLM success and you’re currently generating 5 leads a day, set a goal to generate 50 leads a day.

2. Put Your Goals In Writing – How would you feel if your cell phone company gave you a call and said, “We are discontinuing paper and email billing and we will give you a call and “verbally” inform you of your monthly bill amount.” When you receive your phone bill call and they inform you your bill is $37 more than usual, you’re irritated that you don’t see in writing why your bill is so much. You feel bamboozled! When you don’t put your goals in writing, you are bamboozling yourself (lol, is bamboozling a word?). When you document your goals, you’ll triple your commitment to get the goal. The action and effort of documenting your goals attaches your importance to them. Put your goals in writing because you are worth being documented!
The SECRET – BECOME WHO YOU WANT TO BE. Setting your goals is not about getting something: a mansion, a luxury car, a house on the beach, a flat stomach, a profitable business, a huge downline, and a happy fulfilling marriage. It is about becoming something, it’s about bringing all of that potential, and natural talent buried deep inside of you to the surface to BECOME WHO YOU WANT TO BE. Your personal growth success will determine your MLM success.

3. Time Stamp & Detail Stamp Your Goals – How would you feel if you bought a plane ticket to go to your best friend’s wedding and you received a confirmation back without your seat number, the terminal number, flight number, and even without the date you specified? You are lost because you have know idea where to go and what time to go. You see the “HOW” to get there doesn’t matter, which in this case is the plane. Anyone who has accomplished goals didn’t know “how” they were going to get there, they just knew the “when, where and what.” Do you want your goals to be lost to you? No you don’t, so state the exact date and details you know you deserve to get! For example, “I will generate 50 leads a day by February 10th, 2010.”
The SECRET – FALL IN LOVE WITH YOUR GOALS. Fall in love with the goals you want to get. If you get attached to the “PLAN” or the “HOW” and the plan fails, you’ll abandon your goals. Fall in love with what you really want. Remember your dreams, focus your creative energy on your MLM success and fall in love with getting your dream goals.

4. Prioritize Your Goals – To get anywhere on a map, you got to know your starting point. No matter how painful it is, honestly assess where you are right now. If your starting point is broke, write it. If your starting point is overwhelmed and depressed write it. If you’re $80,000 in debt, weigh 300 lbs, going through bankruptcy, going through divorce, a death in the family, drug addiction, or any other addictions (gambling, food, cigarettes, drama and chaos), have ADD, OCD, ODD, anxiety, an abusive relationship, or hate your job – write down your current situation. Prioritizing your goals is about keeping a score board and knowing where you came from and how far you’ve come.
The SECRET – BASE YOUR GOALS ON FUTURE RESULTS. Your goals are FREE of your current situation and outside circumstances. If you set your goals based on your current circumstances, you’ll set a goal that won’t stretch you out of your comfort zone. This also means circumstances will dictate your goals. Since your circumstances may change, the goal you’ve set becomes unset without you even realizing it. Then you end up getting “whatever” again. Set your goals and get your goals based on what you really want in the future. Only you can attract quality prospects to you. Only you can front-line recruit and achieve MLM success. Only you can get your goals, so dictate them. You and only you!

5. Strategize Your Goals – All goals are not equal, therefore base them within a specific time frame . A monthly term is for goals you’ll get within 30 days. Short-term goals are goals you’ll get within 2 to 6 months. You’ll get intermediate goals within 6 months to 2 years. Long-term goals are goals you’ll get in more than 2 years. Remember there’s no unrealistic goal, only unrealistic time frames.
The SECRET – CATEGORIZE YOUR GOALS. Place your goals into the following categories: Spiritual, Family, Financial/Business, Educational, Physical, Career, Community, and Social/Relationship Goals. Rate where you are right now in each category on a scale of one to ten. This will reflect how balanced or how unbalanced your life is right now. If you have mostly sevens and eights, you have balance. If you have a few ones, a few fours, and a few nines, your life is unbalanced and might look like a zig-zag line on a volatile stock chart. If you mostly have low numbers across the board, you may feel constricted. As you increase your ratings, you will expand and grow and your life will too.
